The Pioneer Shipwreck

The Pioneer is one of Malapascua's top shipwrecks.

The "Pioneer" is a Japanese warship which was sunk in 1944 and lies now close to Malapascua in 42-51m depth covered with black coral bushes.

Schools of glassfish swim through the wreck and huge scorpionfishes thrive in the site. The wreck is very nicely preserved with plane propellers and machineguns still intact. This is always a extreme condition dive and only for very experienced divers due to the area's strong curent.
