Arakan is one of the progressive municipalities in Cotabato Province. Covering an area of 69,355.33 hectares, Arakan depends greatly on agriculture.
Its main crops are corn and upland rice. With its continuous growth, many entrepreneurs have been opening businesses in the municipality. 
 
Strategically located at the northeastern tip of the province, Arakan has a population of 34,717people in 6,605 households based on the 2007 national census. Majority of the people here speak Hiligaynon, Cebuano, and Ilocano.
