The official Roman Catholic Directory recorded that the town of Balamban became a parish in the year 1857. Its church, the St. Francis of Assisi Parish, is one of the town's attractions. Island in the Sky is a mountain resort in Barangay Gaas, Balamban, about 40 minutes or 50 kilometers from Cebu City. The place started out as a private rest house and has become a popular stop along the Cebu Transcentral Highway. This mountain resort sits on a 15-hectare property that commands a panoramic view of the Cebu, Balamban and Toledo hillsides. It has a dining area near the roadside, and kiosks, sleeping cottages and natural spring water pool scattered in the sloping hillside. Island in the Sky is frequented by tourists for its wonderful view of green hills and valleys and its cool, refreshing atmosphere.

Mount Manunggal, located in Barangay Magsaysay, was made famous as the crash site of former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay’s airplane. It rises to a height of 1,003 meters above sea level and is accessible through many trails. An annual trek is held to commemorate President Magsaysay's death. The mountain has a wide camping site where second-growth trees rim the area. A spring is located nearby and there are concreted VIP buildings and a comfort room provided for the benefit of visitors and climbers.

The town celebrates its Fiesta on October 3-4 in honor of its Patron Saint Francis of Assisi during which several activities such as concerts, street dancing and a beauty pageant are held.
