The watchtower was built in 1796 as a lookout for Muslim raiders. While similar watchtowers can be found in other places in Bohol, the Punta Cruz Watchtower is the most intact.
The tower provides an excellent view of the sea. One can see Cebu, Siquijor, and Mindanao through its windows. The site also has a small stall that sells snacks making it perfect for picnics.
HOW TO GET THERE
The Punta Cruz Watchtower is located in Maribojoc. It can be reached by riding a bus at the Tagbilaran Integrated Bus Terminal. Tell the driver to drop you off at the watchtower.
