To boost the trade and commerce in San Pablo, the San Pablo City hamber of Commerce and the San Pablo City Tourism Council came up with the October Festival. First conducted in October, 2004, the festival was a raging success. A Trade Fair and Exhibit was held on the banks of Sampaloc Lake. To make the people enjoy their visit while looking at San Pablo’s products on exhibit and on sale, a nighly cultural presentation was held at the front of the City Capitol building. Different schools and barangays competed is different competitions as vocal singing contest, vocal duets, interpretative dance, harana ( serenade ), and choral singing. Added attraction is the concert at the park featuring youth rock bands to the immense satisfaction of the old and young alike and the Food and Beer Plaza so that the spectators have something to munch on. Coinciding with the students’ semestral vacation, the festival was a huge success. Balsa Regatta is also among the activities of the Octoberfest as well as the conducting of Livelihood Seminars and Business Conferences for the improvement of lives of the locals, and the seven lakes trek to show most people the pride of the city.
