The feast of Ka-Angkan coincides with the founding anniversary of Marikina. It is an event that honors the big native clans of the city that has unique “monikers", ex. Angkan ng Bangus, Kamote, Hilot, etc. It also serves as a reunion and venue for the present generation to get a chance to know their ancestors and acquaint themselves with other clan members. Ka-angkan teaches the value of strong family ties, pride of place and the importance of acknowledging your past. Exhibits and cultural shows depicting the old way of life and Marikenian legacies are demonstrated as a way of sustaining local traditions.
