Luna (Apayao)

It is a municipality in the province of Apayao, Philippines.
Luna is part of the seven municipalities encompassing Apayao. It is a municipality with 22 barangays. Today, there are over 16,000 people living in Luna.

Luna's former name was Macatel, but it was changed to Luna by the great Ilocano explorer, Antonino Barroga from Dingras, Ilocos Norte, the town's founding father.

With its abundance of breathtaking natural resources, Luna is one of the best places to visit while in Apayao. Luna is teeming with various fauna and cascading falls, as the town is filled with a plethora of tourist scenic spots.

Travelers who wish to visit Luna can get there by land through various means of transportation such as bus and tricycle.

Actually, there are lots of places of interest in Luna. Here are some them:

Mt. View Deck - This is one of the highest peak of the municipality that offers the mountaineers with a magnificent view. Climbers can see the perfect view of the town and other towns of Cagayan. Plus, travelers can also catch a glimpse of the different orchids as well as rare plants with trimmings. The site is 2 kilometers from the national highway.

Lussok Crystal Cave - A 3-room cave with dripping water that forms stalagmites of different beautiful shapes situated at the rocky slope of Brgy. Dagupan sitio Kabunnayan, Luna, Apayao. This lures the travelers to go spelunking. This is also an perfect place for swimming and boating.

Allabang Cave - Tickle your fancy and be charmed with this cave. There are large quantities of guano that are found here. Such a fascinating place for spelunkers. The site is kilometers from the national highway. This cave was already documented by ABS-CBN through the courtesy of DOT-CAR on July 9, 2006.

Bayugao Falls - A 3-deck natural pools rising about 12 meters from each other. Its cool clean water creates an exceptionally refreshing sight. The waterfalls from the top pool cascade to the next in fluid succession. These natural pools provide clean, cool mountain spring water for anyone to enjoy swimming.
