Paskuhan in Surigao City is a month-long Christmas bazaar which includes a Christmas tree making contest and a Christmas lantern making contest. Winning entries are then included in the Lantern Parade. The month-long event also features a Rondalla contest.

Misa de Galleo, or Simbang Gabi, is usually held during this time in preparation for the Christmas celebration. Misa de Galleo refers to a series of church masses held early in the morning before dawn. After each mass, church goers gather to eat Surigaonon delicacies. Misa de Galleo is also held in other places in the country.
