Cotabato Province, formerly North Cotabato, is a province belonging to the SOCCSKSARGEN Region in Mindanao.  SOCCSKSARGEN is a collection of four provinces and one city: South Cotabato, Cotabato Province, Sultan Kudatarat, Sarangani Province, and General Santos City.

 

The province's name is derived from kuta wato, a Maguindanaon term meaning "stone fort". The same name is given to Cotabato City, but the city itself is separate from the province.

 

The province's capital is Kidapawan City.
