Dangcagan is a 5th class municipality in Bukidnon. According to the 2000 census, Dangcagan has a population of 18,875 people living in 3,555 households.
The municipality was originally the home of the Manobos. When settlers coming from other areas in the Philippines began to settle in the area, the Manobos hid in the forest and would only come back to their home when they felt the foreigners were not around. The place was then named Dagandagan, which means "to run". Eventually, the natives and the foreign settlers united and named the area as Dangcagan.
Dangcagan is politically subdivided into 14 barangays.
