Maramag is a 1st class municipality in Bukidnon. As of the 2000 census, Maramag has a population of 75,233 people living in 14,267 households.
The municipality's name is derived from ag ramag, a term meaning "to eat breakfast". The area was once a place where local warriors would stop and take a break before heading to battle.
Maramag is politically subdivided into 20 barangays. The North Poblacion and South Poblacion are classified as urban centers while the remaining 18 barangays are considered as rural barangays.
