Oroquieta City is a 3rd class city in the province of Misamis Occidental.

Oroquieta City is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Misamis Occidental. It is the capital city of the province. As of the 2000 census, Oroquieta has a population of 59,843 people living in 12,417 households.

 

During World War II, Oroquieta was not yet established as a city. It was a war capital back at the time. Oroquieta was declared a city only after Japan's surrender and the establishment of the Philippine Republic.

 

Oroquieta is politically subdivided into 47 barangays.
