Pangantucan is a 3rd class municipality in Bukidnon. As of the 2000 census, it has a population of 43,202 people living in 8,168 households.
The origin of the municipality dates back to a legend. A white stallion uprooted a bamboo on time to warn his master about an incoming attack from a rival tribe. This gave enough time for the tribe to prepare itself. The name Pangantucan was then dedicated to the horse. Pangantucan means wisdom and strength.
Pangantucan is politically subdivided into 19 barangays.
