To celebrate bumper yield of food crops, residents and farmers in Tawi-Tawi hold the Cassava and Banana Harvest Festival every February. The event, which was launched in 2010, is a way of the island province’s gratitude for a bountiful harvest and endless blessings. Cassava is a staple food in Tawi-Tawi. Its annual production of the crop is around 170,000 metric tons.
