Cagsawa Ruins Park


Cagsawa Ruins Park is located at Daraga, Albay, Philippines.
 
The February 1, 1814 Mayon Volcano eruption was recorded as the worst eruption of Mt. Mayon which killed 1,200 people and caused the Kagsawaa Church to be submerged in mudflow. Only the belfry remains prominent till today.
 
The area where the Kagsawa Church used to be is now called Cagsawa Ruins Park managed by the municipal government of Daraga, Albay.
 
The park has stood as a symbol of Bicol Region's impressive landscape, rich history, and the people's  testament to how they withstood that big eruption.  
 
From the park, tourists will get an unhampered view of the majestic Mayon Volcano with its famous perfect cone. They also get to enjoy park facilities such as souvenir shops, flower shops, restaurants, and a swimming area. 
 
How to get to the Cagsawa Ruins Park
It is a few minutes jeepney ride from Legazpi City. Air travel takes about 55 minutes from Manila. By bus, the trip will take about 9 hours.
