Mararison Island



Mararison is 4 kilometers off the coast of Culasi in the Province of Antique, and is a 15-minute ride by pump boat.

 

This inhabited island of Culasi boasts a long stretch of white sand beach, Mararison has hectares of rice land, coconut trees, and two caves, each about 100 feet long. Sharp coral growth makes the beach unsuitable for swimming, but beachcombing and spear fishing can be an exciting alternative. Also, a rare pitcher plant can be found in the island.

 

How to Get to Mararison Island

San Jose de Buenavista(the capital town) is accessible via passenger plane, Asian Spirit, three times a week from Manila, and from the major cities of the country through Iloilo City.  From Iloilo, it's a two-hour ride by bus or van. If you are coming from Boracay Island, the province can be reached through RORO buses from Boracay terminal in Malay, Aklan and regular buses plying Nabas, Aklan to the northern part of the province down to the capital town of San Jose de Buenavista.
