The shrine was named after Takumi, the Provincial Commander of the Japanese Imperial Army for the Province of Cotabato during the Second World War. Upon Takumi's request, his ashes were enshrined in Cotabato City - a place he considered his second home. During the Japanese All Soul's Month in August, Japanese nationals visit in homage to a local hero and relieve the memories of war.
