March 16 | Davao City
Araw ng Dabaw literally means "Davao Day" in English. Ironically, the celebration lasts for a week with trade fairs, parades, and cultural presentations. The highlight of the celebration is the citywide beauty pageant entitled "Mutya ng Dabaw".
It was on March 16, 1936 when Davao Assemblyman Romualdo C. Quimpo filed an act creating the city of Davao in fear that the Japanese would soon take control.
