One of the better restored and preserved churches in the province, Santa Barbara Church is an excellent example of the Filipino baraque colonial architecture. Stained by time, the church is of beautiful yellowish stone. A visit to the convent brings back to time with its red brick arches and pillars that witnessed many historic events.
Being declared as a National Landmark by the National Heritage Institute is proof that the church and convent played a significant role in the history of Panay and also the Philippines. The church's courtyard was then filled with Filipinos who fought against the Spaniards during the late 1800s.
