Tinuom Festival

September 10 |  CabatuanIloilo

The Tinuom Festival portrays the movements of the chickens through dance steps. The participants wear costumes primarily made of feathers of chickens and parts of the banana. The storyline presented during the performance revolves around occasions during which the tinuom may be served. The dance steps simulating the movements of chickens, the costumes made of feathers and banana parts and the storyline focusing on tinuom will make the Tinuom Festival distinct from the cultural festivals in the country.

"Tinuom" is a native delicacy of Cabatuan, Iloilo. The delicacy is prepared by wrapping in banana leaves the mixture of ingredients such as chopped parts of native chicken, tomatoes, onions, water and lemon grass. The mixture wrapped in banana leaves tied at the tip is then steamed for several minutes until the chicken meat becomes tender.
